Textbook Calculus 9th edition Single Variable Publisher Larson
Grades 11-12 Prerequisites: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Trigonometry
AP Calculus contains the standard topics for high school or college level calculus. Topics include limits, derivative, velocity, acceleration, integration, and area under the curve.
THE COURSE IN CALCULUS WILL INCLUDE:
Understanding and evaluating limits and the concept of continuity.
Define derivative as the slope of the curve.
Evaluating derivative rules.
Evaluating velocity, acceleration, and other rates of change.
Evaluating antiderivatives (integration).
Evaluating the area under the curve.
Evaluating the volume with several methods.
Graphing the derivative and the integration of a function.
Problem solving with the graphing calculator will be emphasized throughout the course. Many of the exercises will require cooperative learning and sharing with other classmates. Each student will be expected to be to class and in their seat on time. Respect is required by each student to his/her peers, teachers, and administration. An interest in the subject matter and a completion of the task is expected by all. Assignments must be turned in daily or upon completion. Late work will not be accepted. Assignments must be turned in daily or upon completion. Students may use their own calculators to help with their calculations. A unit test will be taken upon the completion of assignments and a review. Unit tests may include chapter tests, nine weeks tests, and semester tests.
