Grades 11-12                                                              Prerequisites: Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II

The course expands upon some topics of algebra, trigonometric functions, trigonometric identities, vectors, and polar coordinates.  The use of a scientific or graphing calculator is often needed.

THE COURSE IN TRIGONOMETRY WILL INCLUDE:

  • Review of Algebra

  • Evaluating Equations and Inequalities

  • Understanding Functions and Their Graphs

  • Exploring Polynomial Functions

  • Graphing Rational Functions and Conics

  • Understanding Exponential and Logarithmic Functions

  • Understanding Trigonometric Functions

  • Verifying and Using Analytic Trigonometry

  • Using Laws of Trigonometric Functions and Vectors

  • Working with Systems of Equations and Inequalities

  • Evaluating Matrices and Determinants

Problem solving with the graphing calculator will be emphasized throughout the course.  Many of the exercises will require cooperative learning and sharing with other classmates. Each student will be expected to be to class and in their seat on time.  Respect is required by each student to his/her peers, teachers, and administration.  An interest in the subject matter and a completion of the task is expected by all.  Some of the exercises will require cooperative learning and sharing with other classmates but cheating is frowned upon in this class.  A student caught cheating will receive a zero for the assignment.  Assignments must be turned in daily or upon completion. Late work will not be accepted.  Assignments must be turned in daily or upon completion.  Students may use their own calculators to help with their calculations.  A unit test will be taken upon the completion of assignments and a review.  Unit tests may include chapter tests, nine weeks tests, and semester tests.
