Sayre Public Schools Seeks to Build Roadmap for the Future

Community Survey Launched to Inform Planning Initiative

Sayre Public Schools is planning for the future and needs the community’s help. Today, the district is launching a continuous strategic improvement initiative with a community survey.

“The development of a data-driven strategic plan represents an opportunity for us as a school district to realign our vision and purpose to better focus on producing well-prepared graduates that are a true reflection of the value system of the Sayre community,” said Superintendent Todd Winn. “Our goal is that through this collaborative process, which will involve all stakeholders in the Sayre Public Schools from parents and patrons to faculty, we will be able to more clearly envision the brightest possible future for our district and the roadmap to take us there.”

The school district is working with the Oklahoma State School Boards Association and K20 Center for Education Community Renewal at the University of Oklahoma to facilitate the planning process.

School board president Vicki Hinkle said she hopes parents, students, teachers, administrators, business owners and community members will complete the survey. All school district residents also will be invited to participate in community forums this fall.

“Throughout the coming weeks, you will be hearing about multiple opportunities to provide input into this important planning process.  Whether you’re a parent or a grandparent with children in our school system, or a member of the business community, we encourage you to get involved and play a role in redefining the future for Sayre children.”

The survey will open the evening of Monday, August 8 and remain open for input until Friday, August 26.  The survey will be available on this website.  The planning process will also include community forums. Planning teams involving community, business and school district representatives will use student achievement data, results from the survey and forums and research to develop a continuous improvement strategic plan.

Community forums are scheduled for 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. September 19 at the middle school/high school library and from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. September 20 at the elementary school.

A proposed plan is expected to be presented to the school board for approval by mid-2017.
